Meet the Teacher

Melissa Malouf, Teacher

Like many of her students, Melissa began playing the piano at a young age. She was seven when she learned her first notes leading to lifetime love of music.

Later, she went on to study piano performance under the renowned professors, Gary Amano, and Dr. Mary Rae Johnson.  She excelled at Utah State University, where she was awarded a piano scholarship, participated in Master Classes with Nelita True and earned distinction on the Dean’s List.

At the university, she participated as an adjunct piano instructor (1991-1998) and as a faculty teacher for the Utah State Youth Conservatory (1989-1998).

Melissa was awarded a Bachelor of Music, Piano Performance in 1992, and has persisted in changing the lives of music students ever since.

Melissa also studied vocal performance and coaching under the tutelage of Dr. Jennifer Larson (1998-2002). Melissa has performed as a member of the Bellevue Chamber Choir, Whidbey Island Chamber Singers, Minot Chamber Choir and the Vacaville Community Choir.

She founded Malouf School of Music in 1994 with the dream of helping students of all backgrounds achieve high musical potential in a positive, safe learning environment.

Today, Melissa performs solo piano works throughout the United States, and recently, in Eastern Europe. She also accompanies string players and vocalists in the Greater Seattle Area, and is available for both accompaniment coaching and collaboration.

Melissa greatest achievements and joy have come from her family of four very musically active children.  She is married to Gabe Malouf, has completed half and whole marathons and loves to contribute in making the world a better place through community and church service.  She is currently serving as a church organist and has since the age of fourteen.
